The University of Pavia, in collaboration with EDISU (Institute of the Right to University Studies), invites applications for the CICOPS Scholarships 2026. This fully funded program is designed to foster international cooperation by offering short-term research opportunities to scholars from developing countries. Selected candidates will engage in collaborative research projects with professors at the University of Pavia, Italy.
About the CICOPS Scholarship Program
The Committee for International Cooperation and Development (CICOPS) Scholarships aim to promote the mobility of researchers from developing countries. The program supports short-term research collaborations, allowing scholars to contribute to academic development and strengthen ties between their home institutions and the University of Pavia.

Financial Coverage
The CICOPS Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support to selected scholars:
- Round-trip airfare (economy class)
- Accommodation at the University of Pavia
- Meals through a meal card for university canteens
- Health insurance coverage
- Weekly stipend of €150 (gross)
- Visa assistance and invitation letter for visa application
Note: The scholarship does not cover expenses for accompanying family members.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of a developing country (as classified by the World Bank).
- Professional Experience: Minimum of two years of teaching or research experience at a university or recognized research institution.
- Academic Affiliation: Should be a junior or senior member of a university or major research center.
- Current Enrollment: Not enrolled in a doctoral or postgraduate program at an Italian university.
- Research Collaboration: Must have an invitation letter from a professor at the University of Pavia confirming willingness to collaborate on a research project.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): Preferably in the European format, including a list of publications. File name: Surname_Name_CV.
- Invitation Letter: From the University of Pavia professor with whom the applicant intends to collaborate. File name: Surname_Name_Letter.
- Research Proposal: A brief outline of the proposed research project to be undertaken during the stay at the University of Pavia.
Incomplete applications or those without the necessary documentation will not be considered.
Program Duration and Dates
Selected scholars can choose to undertake their research stay during one of the following periods:
- January 12 – July 24, 2026
- September 7 – December 18, 2026
